NY FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD

Frankie Fuchs moved his permanent residence in 1991, leaving behind sweltering NY for new challenges and a chance to see the sun set in the ocean. It was there that the moniker NY Frankie was bestowed upon him, by no less than actor Craig T. Nelson, who admired the sophistication and style that Frankie could impart to any song with his production expertise.

Soon after arriving in Hollywood, Frankie signed a publishing deal with EMI, and later moved over to Sony, writing R & B and Pop songs for film and television. Not long thereafter, Frankie produced the Grammy-nominated Grow Big Songs for Warner Brothers Records, resulting in his first nomination as 1993 Producer of the Year. Later, producing the soundtrack for the animated feature This Land is Your Land for Artisan Films, Frankie was again nominated as 1997 Producer of the Year.

Around 1999, Frankie joined with Bob Belden, Blue Note artist and composer, to co-produce Strawberry Fields, a collection of Beatle songs done by such R&B and Jazz singers as Sylvia Shemwell of Sweet Inspirations, Diane Reeves and Cassandra Wilson.

An accomplished lyricist as well as musician, Frankie wrote songs with the Australian songstress Rene Geyer and the rock band Wood and Smoke. 2001 found him busy writing for European film companies, resulting in his involvement with the production of the feature Fountain for Susan, a Czech/Slovak production. One of the songs from that feature, Water of Love, co-written with Vaso Patejtl, was awarded Song of the Year in 2002.

Frankie also released his own CD featuring himself singing, playing guitar, producing and arranging, entitled Love's Own Road, a warm and rich selection of heart-felt love songs that received airplay on over 60 stations throughout Europe. Returning briefly for a visit to the East Coast, he embarked on a sentimental journey, producing a Woody Guthrie record with the Guthrie Family for Rounder Records in Cambridge, Mass. By this endeavor, Frankie strove to widen the scope and range of Woody Guthrie's audience by recasting older, well-known songs with some lost compositions he discovered, utilitizing such soulful artists as Taj Mahal, Billy Bragg, Cissy Houston and Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

In addition, Frankie has been recording and composing for a wide variety of film and television projects, a few of which were Texas Cadet Murder Mystery and We Have a Dream, a special on ABC-TV honoring Martin Luther King Day 2005.

Working with the top studio musicians, singers and engineers remains a high point in LA. Frankie has several co-writing partners, and enjoys his collaborations with his writing partner composer Peter Brown and artists like Syd Straw. For Frankie, however, there is nothing more enjoyable than playing his originals live at various acoustic, jazz and blues festivals around Ojai and a few select rooms about town. It's always an occasion to hear Frankie playing his originals with top players. Meanwhile, there's work to be done, and Frankie is constantly seeking to expand his repetoire of production skills, branching out into new genres; developing and recording exciting new talent and projects.
